In class we talked about how everyone is society is influenced and pressured my scenes and discourses going on all around them. I though what? Yeah, when I was in middle school sure I emulated others, but now? Not at all. Then we brought up Ipods as an example. Sure they are handy, modern, and great quality but consumers by them for more than those reasons. Why not buy a Sirik? They perform the same function. Then, it hit me I’m completely guilty of buying an Ipod for this reason. I honestly use to take my 90’s boom box down to my apartment’s work out room, plug it in to the wall next to me, and start running with the music. Even though there were very few others working out at the same time, and it wasn’t bothering them any, everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Runners and weight lifters looked at me like I was from the stone ages. I hate to admit it, but I got an Ipod solely to dodge these uncomfortable stares.

Through orality I visualize myself as caring. I tend to frequently ask my friends and family, "Is something wrong?" I'm trying to be myself, but instead I end up keeping things to myself to make sure everyone is having a good time. My inner, private experience is much more focused on me. I look toward the future. I'm constantly planning ahead, deciding my next step. I look bad too, gauging where I've been. I think about my family and my responsibilities as a daughter and a big sister.

Both of these aspects are influences by everything I've experiences and the world around me, but my singularity, my character is probably the number one aspect that has been shaped and made by others more than me. If I had to represent my "character" in a picture it would look something like this. I'm always trying to be super girl and make things happen but at the end of the day I'm just a regular girl.
