My four-part psychogeography:

All of the four places below are where I have spent the large majority of my time over the past 21 years. Each place distinctly has heat. The weather and climate in this hot, southern region has shaped me dramatically. I've come to love the Texas heat. I've actually never even seen snow. Though I want to try skiing and other snow sports one day, my next vacation will still be to a hot beach. As I've mentioned before I grew up in Houston, Texas. I can vividly remember cheerleading practice during the summer in the scorching heat. A two mile run at noon was our warm up. I can almost place myself back there dripping in sweat. Then, there is the warm beaches of Galveston. Though Galveston doesn't have the prettiest beaches, it's where my whole family spent every Christmas. We would rent out three beach houses all next door, and spend our Christmas week in the sand. Sounds a little odd writing it out loud, but for us it's just tradition. Next, is Concan, Texas about 90 miles from San Antonio not to far Uvalde sits Garner State Park. Every summer for weeks at a time droves of families from my Houston community headed straight to Garner. We tubbed the river, had fish fries, played volleyball, two stepped the night away at the state park dance, and just relxed. Being in our bathing suites all day down by the river, sometimes without air conditioning to escape to, the heat was fierce. I still love it. Finally, Austin, Texas; here I have soaked in the heat on beautiful Lake Austin, and Lake Travis. Hitting the lake with my boyfriend and his family has become me and his favorite past time. When I'm laying out it never gets too hot. I've truly come to love central Texas heat. Every winter starts a new count down to the next summer in the sun.
