I believe the main stage of Dorothy's initiation quest is in the beginning when she stumbles upon ruined OZ. It is this sight of the broken yellow brook road and the Emerald city turned to stone that sparks her revenge. She is so upset to see the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion, her dear friends, turned to stone that she is determined to fix all that has gone wrong. While the wheelers are scary and Dorothy runs, she does not run away. She runs in seek of help.
