My favorite activity that my family all used to take part in together was Guesstures. It's an updated form of charades. I loved it because everyone would play, my little cousins all the way up to my grandmother. We usually brought the game out on our trips to the beach. We would split into two teams. Each team would take turns drawing a card. The player who drew the card would put it into this contraption that was a timer. The player had x amount of time to convey in actions, but without speaking to his team the topic on their card, and grab the card out the little gadget before the timer was up because when time was up the card would fall, becoming unreachable. Then, the team wouldn't get any points and it would become the opposing teams turn. My family members would go to great length to get the theme on their across. It never failed that by the end of the game I was crying in laughter. Guesstures is a just a great game that brought out enthusiasm in my whole family, and brought everyone together. It made my Grandma stop cooking and my Aunt cleaning long enough to relax and play with us. It pulled my little cousin in the midst of puberty out of his, "No one talk to me," stage. My yougest cousin, Julia, is the only girl grandchild besides me, so Guesstures is a game she can play with the boys that doesn't include cars or masks. It would get my oldest cousin off the phone with his girlfrieind, and convince me to finally come in from laying out in the sun. It turned the television off and had my Uncles and Dad making total goofs of themselves. Laughter is the best medicine for everything in life. Guesstures gave us just that. It was like portable away from all the distractions into family escapades.
